About Us
The idea for Elevate the Space was born during a family holiday in Thailand. Inspired by the freedom to dream and plan together, Chris and Poppy envisioned a business that would reflect their shared values, creativity, and passion for transforming spaces. From that moment, they set out to create a family-run business that blends Chris’s exceptional craftsmanship with Poppy’s operational expertise, all while prioritising the flexibility and balance that are so important to their family life.
Chris is a qualified electrician with over 25 years of experience across commercial, domestic, and industrial projects. Coming from a family of electricians, he has worked as a sole tradesman, run his own businesses mastering a range of skills, and built a reputation for delivering high-quality results. Over the years, Chris has renovated two Victorian homes of his own, often working alongside his dad and friends to solve the unique challenges of older properties with practical, innovative solutions.
Chris’s creativity extends beyond homes. While travelling in New Zealand, he converted his first van on a driveway with limited tools, designing and building functional living spaces from scratch. Poppy played an integral role in the planning and design, ensuring that every inch of the space was both practical and stylish. Later, the pair transformed a VW camper for festivals and adventures, and as their family has grown, they’ve upgraded to a larger van to continue exploring. Whenever Chris and Poppy aren’t busy with family life or client projects, they can often be found out in the van hiking in the hills, swimming in the sea, or walking their dogs.
Poppy brings her love for designing practical spaces and a love for interior design to Elevate the Space. She has a passion for reimagining old objects and antiques, finding creative ways to incorporate them into functional, beautiful designs. Her approach to design blends practicality with personality, making each space truly unique. Alongside her expertise in operations, Poppy supports as needed, allowing Chris to focus on his craft.
After stepping back from supervising large contracts to focus on being a stay-at-home dad and carer, Chris’s experience at home inspired their family to embrace homeschooling. This lifestyle prioritises the freedom to travel, explore, and create routines that work for them. The flexibility and independence they discovered led to the next chapter in their journey: launching Elevate the Space.
At Elevate the Space, Chris’s versatility is one of their biggest strengths. Whether it’s electrical work, joinery, or custom solutions, he brings a wide range of skills to each project, eliminating the hassle of coordinating multiple tradespeople.
