Kitchen Upgrade
Project Overview
This kitchen had served its purpose over many years. The layout still worked, but the space had become tired and difficult to maintain. Rather than replace everything, the clients asked us to restore what was already there and help the kitchen feel calm, fresh, and functional again. They went away on holiday while the work was completed. We were trusted with their home, and they returned to a transformed kitchen that felt completely renewed.
The Challenge
The paint on the cabinets had chipped and yellowed. The worktops were scratched, and the silicone had aged. Shelving didn’t work well for daily use, and faulty sockets were discovered when we were completing the work, something we changed as part of the project. The couple wanted to avoid the waste and disruption of a full refit, but they needed a change that would make their space feel easier and more enjoyable. They wanted to come home to a kitchen that felt new, without losing what they loved about the original.
What We Did
We removed the cupboard doors and shelves and sanded everything back to bare wood. The timber worktops were stripped and re-oiled to restore their warmth. Cabinets were undercoated and painted in a soft, timeless colour, and we freshened the walls, ceiling, skirting, and trims with clean, coordinated paintwork.
We repositioned the shelving, replaced damaged sockets and switches, and carefully reapplied silicone to complete the finish. Every part of the kitchen was put back together with care, giving it a clean, restored feel that respected the home’s original charm.
The Result
This project is a great example of what’s possible when you restore, rather than replace. The space feels brighter, lighter, and easier to live in. The clients were able to enjoy their time away knowing that everything was being handled, and they returned to a kitchen that still felt like theirs — only better.
